York Community Energy

Projects

We are currently developing our York-wide insulation scheme called Warmer Homes York, which you can read more about here. There are also various blog posts about our progress in the News section.

Due to the challenging financial climate for solar PV following the retirement of the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme, the Solar City Farm project has taken a lower priority for the moment. However, we are still interested in hearing proposals for rooftop projects should they arise.

We have hosted several Energy Caf├ęs in 2018 and 2019, mainly focusing on how we can reduce energy consumption in York.

We ran a half-day conference on back in September 2015: “Powering the City“.

We ran a study tour to see the work of Sustainable Hockerton (SHOCK) – one of the original sources of inspiration for York Community Energy. You can read more about our visit in this blog post.

Further study tours are in the pipeline.

Our first attempt at a renewable energy project was centred around a site for a potential wind turbine on Murton Moor.
