Our new thermal camera is (climate) striking!

7th October 2019

YCE had a stall at the amazing Global Climate Strike rally in York on September 20th – though St Helen’s Square was packed so tightly that it would be easy to have missed us!

We took along our home energy loss board and we also thought this might be the ideal opportunity to distribute some pro-wind power “Blown Away” temporary tattoos – produced by 10:10 as part of the campaign against the ongoing absurd de-fact ban on onshore wind development. Both stimulated some useful discussions.

We also took along our new thermal imaging camera to test/show off – you can see from some images we took just how energised the hundreds of protestors present really were! This thermal camera is available for members to borrow in exchange for a deposit – brief training in its use is also given. Email us on info@yorkcommunityenergy.org.uk is you’d like to arrange this. Now that the weather’s turned colder you’ll be able to see all the more clearly where your house is leaking heat.
