In September 2017, York Community Energy signed up our 100th member supporting community owned renewable energy in the York area. Since the autumn of 2016 we have also been offering supporter memberships to those who would like to make a more significant financial contribution to our efforts.
This page is where we thank them personally.
Our sincerest thanks go to…
Tom de Simone: As well as being a financial supporter, Tom is a very active member, and worked tirelessly to produce the short film about our solar project (despite some middling-quality source material!).
“I am a member of York Community Energy because I feel like we as a country are somewhat dragging our feet when it comes to switching to renewable energy, and I want to help to give it a boost in whatever way I can. I am so happy to have found a group of people who care as much about it as I do, and who have the skills and ambition to make it a reality. There are some exciting projects in the pipeline, and I can’t wait to be a part of them.”
Margaret Atherden, who joined at our January 2017 fundraiser.
Jake Helliwell, who we were pleased to meet at a Northern Powergrid event on community energy.
“I joined YCE because conversations about energy and climate change are often so abstract; joining a community organisation allows you to engage with other people at a local level. When government can’t or won’t intervene in energy markets to benefit us all then we must do it for ourselves.”
… and all our other supporters – you know who you are!
Thank you all!
If you would like to join their ranks, our supporter memberships are anything from £10 per year – and you can sign up online using the normal membership form.
